Road closure at Wurzbach Rd. & Nacogdoches Rd. and Highway 90 & Luckey Ranch are scheduled to improve electric reliability on the north and southwest sides of San Antonio

September 8, 2023 (SAN ANTONIO) – CPS Energy is working to improve the quality and safety of aging transmission lines on the northside of the city at Wurzbach Rd. and Nacogdoches Rd and the southwest side at Highway 90 and Luckey Ranch.

The Highway 90 & Luckey Ranch Project will consist of the removal of aging transmission lines and installation of new overhead lines that will be crossing the highway. The work will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 5 a.m. – 2 p.m. There will be one customer impacted by this work and that customer has been notified of the outage.

CPS Energy crews will be working on both sides of the highway and access roads. This will include rolling stops on Highway 90 east and west including the access roads to ensure the removal and installation is performed safely. Blue Armor will provide traffic control during this closure.

The Wurzbach Rd. Project will consist of the removal of old transmission lines in the north side of San Antonio. The work will take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and span over the Wurzbach Road intersection. This work will cause one lane closure from 11503 Bulverde Rd. to 10915 Nacogdoches Rd. There will also be a short highway closure on the westbound and eastbound main lanes of Wurzbach Rd.

CPS Energy crews will be working on Wurzbach Parkway and Nacogdoches Rd resulting in lane closures.  Police officers will provide traffic control during the lane closures throughout the day. There will be no outages as a result of this scope of work.

Drivers are asked to find alternative routes and avoid the areas, if possible. CPS Energy reminds drivers to Move Over or Slow Down, per State law, for crew and driver safety. CPS Energy has worked with TxDOT for this road closure.
