See you at Solar Fest Resilient City 2016 at Roosevelt Park on Saturday!

Solar Fest Resilient City 2016 will shine on Roosevelt Park Saturday November 5, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., as Build San Antonio Green (BSAG) celebrates its 16th annual solar festival with an evolved focus that expands from just solar to local resiliency.

“Year 16 of Solar Fest, we’re really turning a corner,” said Build San Antonio Green (BSAG) Executive Director Anita Ledbetter. “We’re moving from local event to regional festival.”

The theme “Resilient City” reflects BSAG’s move toward expanding its focus beyond solar to more general approaches to efficiency, sustainability and resiliency.

“Solar Fest is a fun event for customers to learn more about renewable energy, energy conservation and sustainable living,” said Kim Stoker, CPS Energy
Sr. Director, Environmental Planning, Compliance & Sustainability.

The CPS Energy Village will include educational info about going solar for homes and businesses, Smart Grid, customer service, and CPS Energy’s various energy efficiency rebates. Come learn from some of the new energy economy partners, KACO, PowerFin, and Mission Solar Energy, who will be in the CPS Energy Village.

In addition, CPS Energy and Alamo Forest Partnership will be giving away 250 native species trees (check out Greenshade rebates for planting a tree).

Myriad hands-on learning opportunities will also be available, such as tips for choosing the best solar system, an urban farm tour, and sessions on how to build your own rainwater harvesting system, or get started composting.

All that active learning might make you hungry–but no worries. Organizers have lined up seven food trucks to satisfy your cravings.
